Knitting Appeal
Knitting is a great way to help patients at Medway Hospital and we have lots of ways in which you can get involved and support us.
Here are out latest appeals:
Dementia Blankets
We need colourful blankets for patients in our frailty ward at Medway Maritime Hospital. The blankets will be used to help older patients, particularly those with dementia, find their way back to bed. We are hoping this will reduce inpatient falls as the colours will allow patients to see the edge of the bed more easily. They can only be used by one patient so we are constantly in need of more.
Blankets need to be three foot wide; the length depends on you - some patients may want to use them on their laps; others to cover shoulders. Blankets can be quilted, knitted or crocheted but new wool and material need to be used to reduce the risk of infection. Please drop off any blankets to the Volunteers’ Desk in main reception.
Twiddle Muffs
Do you have any spare zips, round buttons or ribbon that you can donate to support our volunteers who kindly make twiddles muffs / mats for our patients living with dementia? If so please get in touch, email medwayft.charity@nhs.net
We have some spare wool if you need it, just get in touch.
Woolly hats
Our adult Emergency Department need hats for the hypothermic patients that come into the hospital. Standard size to fit an adult male or female patient.
